This drawing originally started as a tribute of love to a dear friend of mine. The words -- love, hope, growth, alive-- were meant for my friend. But, something remained wrong and unsatisfying with this drawing.  But, when I spontaneously collaged the black star and the photograph of what looks like a hanging woman on it, I suddenly realized this drawing was not about my friend, it was about my then boyfriend. My relationship with him was not providing me with any of that love, hope, growth, aliveness. The drawing completely changed, including the addition of the huge "NO" obliterating all those nice words.  The drawing was done.
